We absolutely booked it heading over to Puerto Rico from St. Martin. Unfortunately it was dead downwind with very light air, so we motored. We had the main up for about an hour, but the wind was so light that we ended up bringing it down. We couldn’t stay any closer than about 20 degrees of our intended course or we’d jibe as we fell off the moderate following seas.

Our course took us south of the Virgin Islands after nightfall, and then between St. Croix and Culebra. We saw a little cruise ship traffic, but otherwise had the water to ourselves. The kids had a great time with little or no seasickness. There was enough of a following sea that they could make a game of rolling around on the berth in the aft cabin, but not so much that it was ever uncomfortable. We are very much looking forward to seeing Uncle Chris when he comes to visit in May. We’ve also been very fortunate in getting to see old friends from Grenada on s/v Gone Walkabout, Mynx, and Gavroche (however briefly).
