Snorkeling in Tyrrel Bay, Carriacou

We had a wonderful time snorkeling yesterday on the beach here in Tyrrel Bay. There is a reef near our boat as well, but given the high density of sea urchins, we spend more time keeping the kids from getting stung and less time taking pictures over there. This set of photos pretty much speaks for itself, so I’ll let them do the talking. All of these shots were within 50 feet of shore on this beautiful beach.

Don't forget to check out the flora while you are snorkeling. These mermaids cups are just one example.

These are called fireworms. As a general rule, I try not to touch marine life even if it doesn't have "fire" in its name.

Pretty, but also not safe to touch.

Pretty, but definitely not safe to touch.

These things are all over the place. I'm not sure we'd be able to distinguish aliens from everyday aquatic life if they decided to invade from the sea.

Found this guy living in a hole in the grass. I snapped this shot and then he took off.

Still not ready for my close up.

Ok. Now I'm ready.

To wrap things up, we found this guy enjoying a snack of some sort. He didn't seem at all agitated by my presence so I went in for a closeup.
